Chililabombwe is an opposition Patrotic Front stronghold and security was tight during RB's rally Banda said there is need to maintain peace and unity if the country is to continue attracting more foreign investment. Mr Banda said it was Dr Mwanawasa’s wish that the MMD should continue in government in a bid to uplift the living standards of the people and propel the country’s national development to greater heights. He appealed to MMD members to campaign vigorously to ensure that the party continued to be in government and fulfill the late President Mwanawasa’s vision of developing the country. Mr Banda said the MMD was ready for the elections because the party was credible and capable of delivering development to Zambians. He was speaking to journalists yesterday in Lusaka shortly after his arrival from Chililabombwe. Mr Banda said this was because the MMD was a strong party which would never be intimidated by the opposition political parties even when they teamed up in elections.
